President Prabowo Subianto has shown his faith in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as planned, positioning the country as a pioneer in this achievement. During a virtual conference focusing on the introduction of renewable energy projects and the expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s capacity to produce energy efficiently and reduce expensive logistical chains. He stressed the importance of energy independence in Indonesia’s goal for national sovereignty, highlighting the launch of 55 new renewable energy initiatives, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean, dependable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
President Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their role in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition. While recognizing the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, he underlined the significance of renewable energy, specifically solar power, in ensuring energy self-reliance for communities nationwide. Prabowo expressed confidence in Indonesia’s future, pointing to solar energy as a source of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
