Honda WR-V Gets a Jeep Cherokee Makeover from DAMD
DAMd has once again surprised us with their latest project. This time, they have transformed the Honda WR-V into a Jeep Cherokee XJ-inspired crossover. The WR-V, known as the “Winsome Runabout Vehicle,” is a small SUV that often goes unnoticed in the crowded market. With front-wheel drive and a CVT transmission, the WR-V doesn’t really stand out in terms of performance.
However, DAMD has cleverly injected some personality into this forgettable Honda crossover by borrowing elements from other models. The WR-V aims to channel the second-generation Cherokee when it grows up with its old-school rectangular halogen headlights flanking a Jeep-like grille with only six slots. If they added one more slot, the tuner might have to seek legal advice.
The LED daytime running lights underneath seem to be borrowed from the previous generation Mercedes G-Class. DAMD, known for their unique G-Class and Defender projects, fully embraces the aesthetics of the 1980s and early 1990s with imitation wood panels along the sides.
At the back, DAMD didn’t bother to change the taillights to mimic the XJ’s vertical lights, but instead added a questionable piece of black plastic trim. The rear ornament swaps the Honda badge for a REVERB logo, which is the official name of the package.
Overall, despite the standard WR-V being far from an off-roader, DAMD has raised the suspension by almost 1.4 inches (35 millimeters) and wrapped 16-inch wheels with 215/70 R16 BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K03 tires. There isn’t much happening inside, but customers can order checkered seat covers to emphasize the retro effect.
The checkered pattern extends to the front and rear center console, as well as the front seat pockets. It’s a peculiar combination, but given how Japanese tuners consistently produce unusual cosmetic packages, there is clearly a demand for unconventional custom builds.
