Magelang – Hundreds of residents of Bandongan Subdistrict, Central Java, on Monday (29/1) joined in the celebration when President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto stopped by to eat meatball together at one of the street food stalls.
Jokowi and Prabowo arrived at Bakso Pak Sholeh Bandongan stall, after inaugurating the main building of the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang. They sat at the same table facing each other and each ate a portion of meatballs, accompanied by young coconut water.
At the moment when Jokowi and Prabowo were seen chatting while eating the most famous meatballs in Bandongan, the gathered residents were competing to capture the moment.
Not only that, among them, since Prabowo arrived, they shouted to be greeted and directly shook hands. “I love you, Mr. Prabowo,” shouted the young women in the crowd.
There were also several men and young men who shouted Prabowo’s name to get attention and be approached by the defense minister.
“Mr. Defense Minister, Mr. Defense Minister! Shake hands, Sir! I haven’t got the chance to (shake hands) here,” said a young man in a black t-shirt while raising both hands with enthusiasm.
One of the native residents of Bandongan, Risma (33), admitted to being very happy today to have the opportunity to see Jokowi and Prabowo. For the first time, she had the chance to meet them in person, as she usually only saw them on television and in videos on social media.
“I’m so happy. I even got to shake hands with Prabowo,” Risma said.
She thought Prabowo’s figure was similar to Jokowi’s, warm and friendly to the people. “Turns out, just like Jokowi, (Prabowo) is very friendly to the people,” she said.
Risma also hopes that in the future, if Prabowo is entrusted to be president, he can successfully continue the programs initiated by Jokowi. In addition, it is important to remember the people.
“Only Mr. Prabowo who can continue Mr. Jokowi’s programs. I support him. I hope he continues to be close to the people,” she concluded. (SENOPATI)
